The plant expansion at Willamette’s Surepine facility required the design of 21 pneumatic systems including low pressure conveying systems, high pressure conveying systems and dust collection systems.  Eagle/WPS personnel led the design and implementation of the project.  The design work was broken into two phases:

Preliminary Engineering

The scope of work included the development of preliminary layouts and budget estimates for the pneumatic systems associated with the addition of a new forming line and press.  General arrangement drawings, scope of work, and equipment specifications were generated for the bid packages.

Final Engineering

Once the project was approved, the final engineering on the pneumatic systems was performed. Final engineering included the design of all support structures and foundations for the pneumatic systems.

WPS provided complete fabrication and installation services for these systems.

Pneumatic Systems

This project included mechanical, electrical, structural and civil design engineering, project management, fabrication, and the mechanical and electrical installation of 80k CFM and 40k CFM pneumatic systems for a new laminating line and flooring line.  Also included was the design, procurement, installation, and programming and commissioning of new electrical service and switchgear, MCC, PLC, HMI, fire and spark detection systems, and explosion protection equipment.  Several new and unique pneumatic components were designed to overcome moving equipment challenges.  Since startup, the system has functioned at nearly 100% required uptime with minimal maintenance.

Briquetting System

This project Included mechanical, electrical, structural and civil design, project management, fabrication, and installation of a custom live screw bottom for an existing 30 unit truck bin, transfer conveyors, and metering/dosing bins to feed twin C.F. Nielsen Briquetting Machines and the briquette collection and truck loading systems.

Pallet Transfer Line

This project included mechanical and electrical design, project management, fabrication, and installation of fully automated 1,500 ft. conveyor line including automatic transfer carts, turntables, unloading stations, and a barcode pallet tracking and sorting system.
